our little tree

November 30, 2016

junior and i finally put up our baby tree!  we've been decorating our apartment for christmas the day after thanksgiving for the past 5 years and this year we were a few days late.  oops ;)

this is the same little baby tree we bought when junior first moved here and i get all nostalgic thinking about all the christmases we celebrated with this little tree!  and of course, i get all giddy looking at our little ornaments we've collected over the past few years.  i love the holidays and love all the memories we're making together.  (see my post from last year here).

you all know how much i love traditions, so of course i kept up with buying a new ornament for us.  this year i bought a passport since we both love adventuring so much.  hopefully this new year will bring us many international travels!

and lucky for me, i was able to find all the ingredients for junior's amazing coquito recipe this year so he made it for us to enjoy while putting up the tree.  (i'm sharing the recipe below if you're interested!)  it's been really cold in these parts so it was nice cozying up by the tree with some coquito and this cozy sweater.  i love how the apartment looks and feels with all the lights out except the tree, some twinkle lights and a few candles.  so romantic!

junior's coquito recipe

1 can of coco lopez
1 can of evaporated milk
1 can of condensed milk
2 tablespoons of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
1/2 cup of rum
blend all ingredients in the blender and serve over ice.  garnish with a cinnamon stick if desired ;)
