three years

November 06, 2016

today marks three years of marriage for junior and me!  just typing that out, i'm like "whoa!  three years?!  how has it been three years?"  and then i'm like "only three years?  hasn't it been like 50?!"  ha!

i look back at our wedding day and just smile.  it was the most relaxed wedding day.  we got married on the grounds of a castle (castillo serralles) in ponce, puerto rico.  as soon as junior proposed  (read more about how we met and how junior proposed here), i immediately started wedding planning.  i knew i wanted to get married that fall and i didn't want a big traditional wedding.  i wanted something intimate and something that was us.  i had talked to my parents about the idea of eloping and to my surprise they were all for it, under one condition...that they could witness ;)  so my sister gave me the idea of getting married in puerto rico so junior's parents (who live in puerto rico) can be there as well.

three and a half short months later, we were on a flight to puerto rico, ready to elope on the grounds of a castle...with our parents and my sister as our witnesses.  it was honestly a dream come true and i still can't believe that was real life.

we got married on a wednesday evening, so we had the entire castle to ourselves.  we arrived separately and had a first look so that we could take pictures prior to the ceremony.  our wedding consisted of prancing around the grounds of a castle, taking pictures and then saying "i do" as the sun was setting.  couldn't have planned it better, even if i tried!

we are currently in montreal celebrating us and will be back in town tomorrow!  i can't wait to share our getaway with you!!

^^ signed, sealed and delivered ;)

i met my prince charming at the foot of a castle, on an enchanted island and vowed to spend the rest of my life with him.

happy anniversary, husband.  cheers to us ;)
